Layered Christingle and Rhassoul Clay Soap

Another layered soap.

After my exploration into making the Cedarwood and Lime Layered Soap, I realised that I thoroughly enjoyed its’ complexity. So here I am again, making different layers using different ingredients. And, after much research, I have settled on this beautiful and creative Christingle and Rhassoul Clay Layered Soap.

This particular Christingle aroma is a balanced blend of Sweet Orange, Cinnamon and Clove Essential oils. This blend reminds me of the smell of christmas baking and all the loveliness that surrounds this time of year.

I wanted to bring something exciting to the soap, and I found a clay which would also add a benefit to skin. As you probably know already, I research quite a bit, and I do get carried away with this. However, as a result, I discovered what wonderful ingrediant Moroccan Rhassoul Clay is.

Rhassoul Clay is somewhat different to other clays and shouldn’t be confussed with Bentonite Clay. It is distinctive. The benefits for skin are understood to include cleansing impurities as well as improving skin elasticity. For me, part of the decision to use Rhassoul Clay relates to its texture. It is a powder substance which is not a fine as kaolin or bentonite clay, and due to its thickness, it gives a wonderfully satisfying feel to each bar of soap.

The Rhassoul Clay is featured as an alternating layer, which can easily be seen throughout each bar of soap.

The other layers in this soap are made with mosturising Oat cream. I make the Oat cream myself with organic oats and a lot of elbow grease! Its just oats and water, no other ingredients and it makes a fabulous moisturiser. It rehydrates the skin beautifully and its a real discovery.

This Christingle and Rhassoul Layered Soap is currently curing. It will be ready in the next few weeks and will be on sale at the Christmas Fayre at St Bartholemews Church in Meltham on Saturday 3rd December.
